I participated in “Multi-Cultural Café Online
” held in Tanashi City Hall today. The teacher was
S-san of NiNiC. She showed us lots of photographs
of her native land, Hampshire in England, and
those of West Virginia in the USA where she moved
at the age of 19. She said that the difference
between England and the USA exists not only in
English language, but also in foods and privacy.
She also talked about child raising in the USA
and Japan. She asked the participants some
questions; “What kind of image do you have
of the USA?” “Is Japan a country good and
easy to raise children?” and so on. Participants
broke into some groups and talked together.
And then they shared the contents of their talk
and asked S-san for her remark. Even though
not all of us were in the Hall together, we felt as
if we were sitting together and chatting
comfortably around S-san. S-san, thank you very
much for preparing many photographs and topics
for us. We really appreciate.
S-san is going to participate in Japanese Speech
Contest on the 3 rd of October. We are looking
forward to hearing her next interesting topics.
Let’s all support her.
