We are trying to translate our study from Japanese into English.
There would be a lot of misspelled words, so it would be nice if you could tell us them.
We have started studying cases of NiiSR(Social Responsibility in Niigata) since got a chance to join an event, "CSR seminar, which advises how to try CSR in Niigata (2009/9/1)" , organized by Niigata NPO.
NiiSR club is composed of law students of Niigata university, and at first, the members of the club belonged to international human rights law seminal(2008/9~).
At the seminal, we studied about GC(global compact), ISO, CSR and SR, we thought it's an important thing for companies to accomplish what has to be done to their society by them. On the other hand, we realized it's very difficult for them, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises to do so, because of some following reasons. One is that the concept of CSR is vague, not clear. Second is costs of CSR practices. Third is that Social responsibility should be done by all of the people and organizations.
Under the circumstances, we came to a conclusion. It is NiiSR of which we decided the concept.
The definition of NiiSR is following; so as to achieve continuous development of Niigata, citizens, NPO, NGO, governments, and universities, they work together with their cooperation, or individually they carry out their responsibility in Niigata.
As one of the activities of NiiSR club, we are studying about cases of NiiSR now.
We have done about 17 cases.
1 small & medium-sized enterprises - about 15 cases
2 university of Niigata - about 3 cases
