ここ徳島市沖洲マリンピア海岸では冬至の前後各1か月の間に 紀伊水道の沖にでるΩ(オメガ)の形をした朝日です。これをオメガさん(omega sun)、オメガサンライズ(omega sunrise)と私は呼んでいます。 だるま朝日は なぜ起こる? それは 朝夕の2回、海岸から日の出 日没の太陽の光を 水平線上に見るとき、太陽の光が大気差で ほぼ太陽の直径ほど大きく下に曲がり、それを見る人間の 光の直進性を信じる視覚上では 太陽が浮き上がってみえる現象に転化するためです。 大気差は水平線を超えた42kmの海面 目の届かない、目には見えない この水平面を 高さ0.1°巾のオメガゾーン 即ち目に見える鉛直面へと転移させ、この船を浮かべる海面である omega zoneに足を写し出し 目に見える反射像、足,台となり Ωさん 、浮き船、浮島現象をつくります。それがだるま朝日といわれるものです。

Nevertheless, I call it the omega line. The rising sun does not come out on the horizon, but actually it appears on the omega line. The feet of the omega sun is a reflection of the solar disk on the surface of the sea.It is an only reflection.
Almost always I can see an ocean liner of over 10,000 tons sailing in the air above the sea in the daytime. Do you think it's a mirage or such a floating ship as an airship ? The ship sails not in the air but on the surface of the sea . Between the sky and the earth, there are the air and the sea. Also, an invisible zone, where only the reflected image of the solar disk can be existed is between the air and the sea. I call it the omega zone . It may look like the air. Actually, however, the omega zone is the surface of the ocean itself. And its width is about one-twelfth of a degree. And the omega line is the top of the omega zone .The light of the sun coming through the air has been bent down little by little with atmospheric refraction. When the first ray of the rising sun's light on a point of the omega line ,reaches our eyes, the real position of the sun is about five-sixths of half a degree below the apparent horizon, or about 0.5 °below the omega line, that is, the apparent sun position is about a diameter above the actual sun position and then, the surface of the ocean is simultaneously in a same position on the omega line as well the apparent sun. Atmospheric refraction would heave not only the sun but the sea surface all at once. The width of about 0.1°of the omega zone depends entirely on the distance of about 42 km between the apparent horizon and the actual horizon. And the distance from the observer to the horizon is directly proportional to the eye height above sea level.The omega zone between the horizon and the omega line consists of so many reflected lines or fold lines as the paralleled lines with the horizon. We can easily recognize the inferior mirages such as the floating ships on the omega zone in the daytime. The omega sunrise begins at a point of the omega line as a looming dot of the morning light and gradually becomes the big solar disk on the omega line with a reflected image like a skull-cap within 180 seconds. The Omega Line is the only key word of the omega sun or the flaoting- island and the flaoting- ship which are produced with atmospheric refraction .
