A tip of an iceberg[2017年05月02日(Tue)]
According to the survey conducted by Japan Federation of Democratic Medical Institutions, a man, who did not go to see a doctor because of his financial difficulties even though he had been in poor health for four years, died of rectum cancer in March last year in Hyogo Prefecture.
The survey shows that his petition for welfare benefits was turned down several years ago. The Prefectural Federation of DMI says, “This case is just a tip of an iceberg. It might not have been too late if the administration had dealt with it more carefully.” ( Translation exercise / material taken from the Mainichi)
